Metallica’s self-titled Black Album has officially surpassed 20 million copies sold in the U.S., making it the first metal album to reach this rare milestone. Released in 1991, it now joins only 13 other albums in music history to hit the 20-million mark, according to the RIAA. On a side note, former guitarist, Dave Mustaine alleges that Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” which is on the Black album, was copied from California 80’s thrash band Excel’s 1989 track “Tapping into the Emotional Void.” While Excel once considered legal action, they opted against it.
Ozzy Osbourne, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease for years, is preparing for his final show with Black Sabbath in Birmingham on July 5th. Despite his health struggles, the 76-year-old “Prince Of Darkness” is determined to give it his all and has been working with a trainer to get back in shape. Osbourne shared that he is monitoring his health closely and taking it one day at a time as he prepares for the milestone performance, saying that “If his God wants him to do the show, he’ll do it”.
