AVATAR has unveiled a new single, “Captain Goat,” accompanied by a new video. Frontman Johannes Eckerström described the song as “a negotiation with the harsh realities of life” and “a journey through the underworld.” The release comes as the band prepares for a 2025 U.S. headline tour with support from ALIEN WEAPONRY and SPIRITWORLD. The tour will make a stop on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Riviera Theater in Chicago.
Louisa Livingstone, the once-mysterious woman on the cover of Black Sabbath’s debut album, is raffling a signed hand-written letter to raise funds for a cat rescue project. Identified only five years ago after decades of speculation, Livingstone—also known musically as Indreba—is offering fans the chance to win her autograph for just $1 per ticket. Though she admits Black Sabbath isn’t her style, she’s supporting the cause out of love for animals. The raffle will be drawn on July 20.
And finally, guitarist Rick Derringer, most notably known for his hit song “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”, has passed away at the age of 77. According to Derringer’s wife, he “died peacefully after being taken off life support Monday night following a medical episode”. His caretaker and close friend, Tony Wilson, said Derringer had undergone a triple bypass just two months earlier but had been doing well. He was also part of The McCoys and their 1965 hit “Hang On Sloopy,” and later went on to produce for various artist’s, including producing the first six Wierd Al Yanchovic albums.
