A recent Metallica concert at Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium sparked seismic activity during the band’s performance of “Enter Sandman.” The Virginia Tech Seismological Observatory recorded minor ground tremors, nicknamed the “Metallica Quake” online. Though too small to register on the Richter scale, the tremors were attributed to the crowd’s synchronized jumping and headbanging. Virginia Tech Athletics thanked fans for their energy, sharing a video of the electrified audience in motion.
Alice in Chains were forced to cancel their May 8 show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT after drummer Sean Kinney fell ill. The band issued an apology to fans but did not disclose details about Kinney’s condition. The Connecticut date was to be their first full concert since April 2024. Their tour is scheduled to continue with upcoming stops in New Jersey, Ohio, and the UK. Meanwhile, a book compiling the journals of late frontman Layne Staley is set for release in November.
And finally, Evanescence’s Amy Lee has teamed up with Grammy-nominated singer Halsey for a new track titled “Hand That Feeds.” The song is featured on the soundtrack for Ballerina, the latest spin-off in the John Wick film franchise.
